Privacy Policy

BRare ("I", "me", "my") is a Sydney-based website design and development practice run by Briar. This policy explains what personal information is collected through this website, how it's used, and how it's protected. It's written with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in mind.
What I collect
Through the enquiry form on this site, I collect whatever you choose to provide: your name, business name, email address, and any details you include in your message.
The form also records two things you do not type: which link, post or search brought you to the site, and the campaign tag on that link if it had one. This is so I can tell which enquiries came from where. It is not tied to any advertising network and it does not follow you anywhere else.
How enquiries are handled
When you submit the form, your details are sent to Netlify, the company that hosts this site. Netlify stores the submission and emails a copy to my inbox (briarmets@gmail.com).
That means there are two copies of what you send: one held in Netlify's dashboard for this site, and one in my email. This site itself has no database of its own.
The form includes a hidden field that automated spam fills in and real visitors never see. Anything that fills it is discarded. There is no reCAPTCHA, so you are never asked to identify traffic lights.
How your information is used
Information you provide is used only to:
- Respond to your enquiry and provide a quote or proposal
- Deliver the services you engage me for, if we proceed with a project
- Keep basic records of client communication for the life of a project
Your information is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
Third-party services
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). Loading a font from Google's servers means your browser sends a request that includes your IP address to Google, in the same way any external resource on a webpage would. I don't control what Google does with that request beyond serving the font file.
This site is hosted on Netlify, which may log standard technical data (such as IP addresses and request logs) as part of normal web server operation, and which stores enquiry form submissions as described above. Netlify is a United States company, so information you send through the form is processed overseas.
Cookies and tracking
This site does not currently use cookies, analytics, or tracking scripts of any kind. If that changes in future — for example, if analytics are added to understand site traffic — this policy will be updated to reflect it before those tools go live.
Data retention
Enquiry and client emails are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to manage the relevant project or business relationship, and are deleted or archived when no longer needed.
Your rights
You can ask what information I hold about you, request a correction, or ask for it to be deleted, at any time. Get in touch at briarmets@gmail.com and I'll action it directly — there's no automated process to navigate, it's just me.
Children's privacy
This site and its services are intended for business use and are not directed at children. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Significant changes affecting active clients will be communicated directly.
